The woman at the well.
This one is a situation we see regularly, when a person encounters truth, they want to talk about it.
You know when you find that great TV show on Netflix or a great bargain at tkmax you just want to put everyone you know on it and tell them about what you’ve found
We see a similar situation with the woman at the well, you should read the entire chapter for better context.
John 4:28-29 (NKJV) 28 The woman then left her waterpot, went her way into the city, and said to the men, 29 “Come, see a Man who told me all things that I ever did. Could this be the Christ?”
She encountered Jesus and wanted to tell everyone what she had experienced. the surprise, joy, satisfaction name it makes you want to share with the people in your life.
Another instance is Philip who later became one of Jesus disciples, Philip encountered Jesus and he went to speak to Nathaniel
John 1:45 (NKJV) Philip found Nathanael and said to him, “We have found Him of whom Moses in the law, and also the prophets, wrote–Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.”
I have found the one who the prophets and Moses wrote about. he is Jesus of Nazareth.
It is good practice to share with the people around us. Telling them about Jesus and our new found life in him, we will be opening the door for them to also believe and to also come to know, and have a relationship with Jesus.
As a saint we cant keep quiet about the tremendous change, joy and fulfilment we find in Christ we should share it so we don’t burst with locked in excitement.
Telling someone about your newfound faith does a few things for you, it
- Allows the people around you to know that you are a new creature and on tings have passed away.
- Telling them when it happens helps you to break the ice whereby you can communicate with them what has happened and also maybe introduce them to what you have encountered.
- You may not know it, but you are doing the work of an evangelist and standing as an ambassador for Jesus.
It’s pretty simple just mentioning to them that you now believe that Jesus died for your sins and because of that you are saved.
Simple enough right? Yes it is.
There may be instances where sharing with the people in your life might pose a problem or a risk thats why we will talk about being a part of a local assembly or being a part of a church community or a church family.
