About Us

Our mission: to rebuild lives, restore the lost, refocus hearts on Jesus.

Watergate draws from a rich history of supernatural and apostolic workings — and the story is still being written.

Who we are

What we're for.

Rebuilding Lives

Standing for Jesus

By the teaching, application and practice of God's word we are building lives — raising men and women who will live and stand for Jesus in this world.

Restoring the Lost

From death to life

With the Gospel of Christ we call the lost from death to life, healing to the broken-hearted, good news to the poor, and recovery of sight to the blind.

Refocusing on Christ

Growth & maturity

Through discipleship we believe God for spiritual growth and maturity, and to become able ministers of the Gospel of Christ.

Our Story

The Watergate story so far…

It began 8th May 2017
A Call To Pray

The story of every church of Jesus around the world begins at one place — the beginning, more closely the resurrection of Jesus. A life-changing and world-altering reality: the King of Glory is risen.

Watergate draws from such a rich history of supernatural and apostolic workings. No doubt, we run in the same light.

It was a warm night on the 8th of May 2017 when our Pastor felt a strong nudge to pray. He recognised this beckoning, as he had been walking with God for about seven years since he got saved. That night at about 9pm he went to a secluded place and prayed — and there God revealed to him His desire to plant a church that would bless the nations of the world.

The Watergate Church Edinburgh began as a discipleship meeting in his living room, and has seen the hand of God over the past years, with lives transformed and the free flow of the Spirit of God in our midst. The story is still being written. God is working among us…

What we believe

Our statement of faith.

i The Holy Scriptures

We believe the Bible is the inspired, only infallible, and authoritative Word of God, serving as our final rule for faith and living.

ii The Triune God

We believe in one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

iii Jesus Christ

We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, His sinless life, His miracles, His atoning death on the cross, His bodily resurrection, and His future return in power and glory.

iv The Finished Work

We believe that salvation is a gift of grace through faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ. It is not by our effort, but by His sacrifice.

v Eternal Salvation

We believe that salvation is eternal and irrevocable. It is a work done and completed by God and cannot be undone.

vi Restoration

We believe the Holy Spirit indwells every believer, empowering us to live a life that reflects God's heart for rebuilding and restoring a broken world.

vii The Church

We believe in the spiritual unity of all believers, called out in local churches together to be the hands and feet of Jesus in our communities around the world.

viii Ministry

We believe every man and woman in Christ is called to preach and teach Jesus, and there are no restrictions to leadership in the local church for women. In Christ there is neither male nor female, as we all are one in Christ.

ix Marriage

We believe that marriage is a union between a biological male and biological female, outside of which is not recognised by God and the Church.

x The Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity — who is neither a dove, wind, fire or the like, but is a living being in every believer, helping us live godly lives on this earth.

Our Vision

A city transformed by grace

To see our city transformed by God's grace, where every broken life is rebuilt and every heart is anchored in the finished work of Christ.

Our Mission

Word · Gospel · Discipleship

Rebuilding lives by the word, restoring the lost with the gospel, and refocusing on Jesus Christ through discipleship.

For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD as the waters cover the sea.
